Bold touches in BlackBerry Z10

HANDS ON: The all-touch BlackBerry Z10 will arrive on our shores early next month. This is the first model to be powered by the all-new BlackBerry 10 operating system. The Z10 will be available from Maxis on March 9 and comes in black and white. Consumers can register now with the telco to be among the first to own it. Celcom and DiGi will follow suit on April 8. Since this is a touch-based smartphone, BlackBerry fans who love the QWERTY keypad may not entirely take to it. For this lot, the company has the Q10, which will be available in June. Here's what's exciting about the Z10 after a hands-on experience with it during its launch last Wednesday Bold touches in BlackBerry Z10

 DESIGN
The Z10 has a new look and feel as far as BlackBerry smartphones are concerned. Looking a lot like the other well-known latest smartphones in the market, the lightweight and slim Z10 is easy to hold and has a soft feel to it. The back has a rubbery finish which gives a good grip.
The smartphone has only a power button at the top of the device and no other control buttons, giving it a clean look. The Z10's 4.2 inch LCD display (1280 x 768 pixels) provides for crisp and clear viewing.
HARDWARE
This is BlackBerry's fastest and most advanced model. The Z10 is super fast. It features a 1.5Ghz dual core processor with 2GB of RAM, 16GB internal storage and slot that supports up to 64GB memory cards.
GESTURES
Every action is done by swiping your finger in from the edge of the screen. By swiping your finger on the screen, you will be able to access your apps, options and BlackBerry Hub.
The Hub is where you will find all your messages, email and social media notifications. You can easily peek into the Hub with a quick swipe from just about any app you are using if there are notifications or incoming messages.
While the touch screen is fast and smooth, user experience gets a little hampered as you will need to remember where to swipe to find the menu options. However, once into it, the problem is not such a big deal. Hardcore BlackBerry users should not find it too difficult to use the device.
CAMERA
The Z10 has an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. One feature that is sure to appeal to many is the Time Shift, which enables you to create the best photograph from the many shots taken.
APPS
BlackBerry is supported by more than 70,000 apps. You get most of the popular apps like Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn, which comes pre-installed and also more than 100 local apps with the Z10. Some of the local apps include Air Asia, CIMB Clicks, OneKedai and Sunglight Taxi.
